This is Not Ridiculous

With so many different social networks and online communities, getting notified about friend updates can get a little crazy. I realized the other day how ridiculous it had become. When a friend of mine posts something on his blog these are all the ways I am notified that he has done so.
- I subscribe to his blog in Google Reader
- Twitter posts a message when he has a new blog post via TwitterFeed. I am notified by Twitter via Twhirl,
- SMS and
- IM
- We are friends on Friendfeed. I subscribe to my friend’s Friendfeed updates in Google Reader. His blog feed and Twitter feed both go through Friendfeed so I am notified
- twice by Friendfeed.
- Twitter automatically changes his Facebook status to his most recent Twitter update so I am notified in the News Feed when I log in to Facebook.
- I am also subscribed to my friends Facebook updates in Google Reader so I am, again, notified that he has posted a new blog post from Google Reader via Facebook via Twitter.
- I’m sure I forgot
- a couple
