Friday Photos

PicasaWeb needs to be better integrated with Blogger. The Picasa desktop client has a “Blog This” button that opens up a crippled version of Blogger to post the photo but that’s about it.

Anyway, here are a few photos I took yesterday while walking around my neighborhood. This first one is obviously a traffic circle. The cool thing is that some people in the neighborhood have been harvesting the roof rainwater in the barrel and then using that rainwater to water the plants on the traffic circle. Someone has been taking very good care of the plants and have actually made it in to a garden. I noticed there are some tomatoes and other vegetables growing in the traffic circle. This is a great example of private citizens taking ownership of public land. So many people I know complain about the fact that the city won’t mow the strip of grass in between the street and the sidewalk in front of their house. Do it yourself. Take ownership of it. Take care of your neighborhood public land instead of complaining that the city doesn’t. Be part of neighborhood community. Your piece of property is not an island.
