12 Inch, 3 Speed, Oscillating Fan
There’s something about 4-part harmony, a fiddle, steel guitar, mandolin and a banjo that just makes me want to tap my feet and sing along no matter what the content of the song is. For example, I was listening to one of Seattle’s listener supported, non-commercial radio stations while driving and a song came on called “12 Inch, 3 Speed, Oscillating Fan.” I just couldn’t help but sing along.
I’ve got a 12 inch, 3 speed oscillating fan
Sitting on the floor in front of the divan
It’s been there ever since the heat wave began
Our 12 inch, 3 speed, oscillating fanIt just takes a lot air and it moves across the room
It doesn’t do us any good ’cause it’s so and hot and its so humid
Our air conditioner’s broke so we do the best we can
With our 12 inch, 3 speed, oscillating fan(guitar solo)
I’m just sitting on the couch with my cousins and my brothers
While the fan blows a breeze from one side to the other
Cooling off the living room [something something something]
Our 12 inch, 3 speed, oscillating fan(fiddle solo)
(instruments cut out, voices only)
I’ve got a 12 inch, 3 speed, oscillating fan
Sitting on the floor in front of the divan
It’s been there ever since the heat wave began
Our 12 inch, 3 speed, oscillating fan
Listen to the song for yourself.
