Australia
On my way around the web this morning I’ve been reading a lot of blogs of people from Australia. I like these folks.
Garth, over at emergingBlurb had some really good things to say about Christian service that both convicted me for thinking that I could hand off the actions accompanying my faith to someone else and be fine with that and inspired me to pay more attention to what can do on the personal and individual level.
Here are some snippetts:
As individuals in the church its easy to subcontract acts of compassionate service to those in ‘ministry’ or to Christian organisations. Heck…we might even give them some coins and piggy-back our convictions on their actions. But if I could influence the emerging church in any area, it would be to take up the neglected role of service to anyone in need at an individual level just as JC attended to people. To see mission as physical as well as spiritual. To be affected by His heart so that we act. ..I wondered once if every Christian did what we called to do, then there might be no need for governments to do it for us and run the various support agencies mentioned above.
