grace
I went to a bachelor party for a cousin of mine of Saturday night. It was at this bar called Ozzie’s down by the Seattle Center. The place was pretty big. It had a small bar upstairs and then a couple bars downstairs with pool tables, a karaoke thing, and some pin-ball machines. I had another party to go to earlier so I arrived around 10pm. There was about 20 guys in the group and they had just gone to the Sonics game beforehand.
Now this place wasn’t really my kind of bar. I’m more of a pub guy. So, like most bars ther was just a lot of really loud guys trying to get laid and a bunch of girls trying to get attention. I saw a sign that said the max occupancy was 171, ther had to be at least 400 people in there. Being there really made me glad that I am getting married soon. Everyone in there was searching for happineess and its sad because they’re never going to find it. All of that just leads to pain and emptyness. I am so very glad that God has given me the gift of love with a woman. It is the most amazing thing. The coolest thing is that God let’s you see this woman as He does, and that makes her more attractive and more beautiful than any other woman that you see.
It was somewhat humerous because all of us married or soon to be married guys were sitting at one table having a good time, drinking dark beer and staying sober while basically everyone else in the place was drinking horse piss and just trying to hook-up with someone. One guy that was in the group was pretty wasted and he ended up hitting on his girlfriend’s best friend.
I do have to admit I broke one of my own drinking rules. The 3 rules are as follows: 1. I don’t drink any “beer” that is yellow. I prefer not to be able to see my hand through the glass. 2. I generally don’t drink beer out of plastic cups, and 3. I don’t drink beer out of cans (excluding Guinness cans). I, unfortunately had to break rule number 2. They ran out of glasses at the bar so I was forced to drink my Guinness out of a plastic cup. It was not a good experience, but the Guinness did give the plastic cup with Bud Light logo a little bit of redemptive value.
What this bar experience made me most realize is how much I need God’s grace, and if it wasn’t for his grace on my life, that would be me drinking Bud Light from a plastic cup and trying to get laid. Jesus Christ is LORD. I am nothing without him. This love that I have found with Jenae is a gift from Him. Why did he choose me? I don’t know, ther’s definately nothing I’ve ever done to deserve it. God’s grace is amazing, life-changing.
Ephesians 1:7-8
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
